Ms. Marcey Abrons serves as both a School Counselor and College Counselor at the school. She earned her degrees from CSU Dominguez Hills and the University of La Verne in California. Ms. Abrons’ educational philosophy centers around the belief that education equips individuals with the tools and skills necessary to understand the world and themselves. She views knowledge as the gateway to opportunity and growth, and it is her duty to create a safe, open, and supportive environment where students can learn how to foster positive relationships.
Her approach to student growth and development follows the ASCA National Model, providing individualized academic, career, and emotional/social support. Ms. Abrons offers interventions and referrals when needed, ensuring students receive a nurturing environment to thrive in. She enjoys teaching students about the college application process and managing stress, helping them navigate crucial aspects of their future.
Ms. Abrons incorporates technology by providing digital grad plans that students can access at any time. She also organizes student activities during lunch to help build school culture and actively participates in the leadership team. Additionally, she is in charge of middle school outreach and manages dual enrollment programs.
Outside of work, Ms. Abrons enjoys reading, baking, cooking, and traveling. She has been recognized as an LAUSD Board District 7 Hero in Education. Some of her proudest moments are when students approach her at graduation to thank her for never giving up on them. Her professional goals include earning RAMP (Recognized ASCA Model Program) recognition for the school. A fun fact about Ms. Abrons is that she has been skydiving! She also serves as an adjunct professor for the UCLA Extension College Counseling Certificate Program and at the University of La Verne’s LaFetra College of Education, teaching in the Educational Counseling Program.
