Ms. Jeanne Chocek

Ms. Jeanne Chocek is an experienced Chemistry teacher with over 25 years of dedication to education. She holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon and a Master's degree from California State University, Long Beach. Ms. Chocek’s teaching philosophy emphasizes that learning happens both inside and outside the classroom. Her approach to student growth is deeply rooted in promoting a growth mindset, helping students embrace challenges and grow through their experiences.

 

In her classroom, Ms. Chocek engages students through STEM activities that enhance their understanding of scientific concepts. Chemistry is her favorite subject to teach, and she is proud of her students' accomplishments, including their completion of STEM projects focused on Energy. Ms. Chocek also incorporates STEAM—Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math—into each unit, fostering innovative learning practices that connect multiple disciplines.

 

Beyond the classroom, Ms. Chocek co-leads the E-Sports Club with Mr. Sherwood, serving as a Club Advisor, is the Chemical Safety Coordinator, and contributes to the Parent Committee. She values staying active in both her professional and personal life, balancing her work by enjoying time in nature, building houses, and participating in Master-level competitions.

 

Ms. Chocek's teaching has been recognized with PSA Awards, and some of her proudest moments are when her students go on to college and pursue careers in science. Her professional goals include further developing and engaging students in STEAM projects throughout the school curriculum. She is excited to continue implementing teaching methods that enrich students' knowledge beyond the classroom.

 

A fun fact about Ms. Chocek is that she set the University of Oregon high jump school record during her time as an undergraduate!
