Mrs. Tati Montalbo

Mrs. Tati Montalbo is a dedicated Resource Teacher with seven years of experience and holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from CSU Dominguez Hills. She is also an Educational Specialist, passionate about fostering self-esteem, creativity, and emotional well-being in her students.
 
Through regular social-emotional support systems, she creates an environment where students feel valued and understood. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes mindfulness techniques to help students develop self-awareness and support their overall personal growth.
 
In her classroom, Mrs. Montalbo engages students through community-building activities, small groups, collaborative learning opportunities, daily check-ins, and by tying lessons to students' personal interests. Her approach to student growth and development focuses on building relationships, promoting self-advocacy, and emphasizing the well-being of the whole student.
 
Mrs. Montalbo incorporates technology and innovative practices, using gamification tools like Kahoot and Jeopardy, as well as mindfulness apps such as Calm. She is actively involved in extracurricular activities, including the Black Student Union (BSU), Black Student Achievement Plan (BSAP), GATE/SAS, and the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT).
 
Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Montalbo enjoys traveling with her family, trying new foods, and spending time with her dog. One of her proudest moments in her teaching career has been hearing teenage students share that she makes them feel safe—a testament to the supportive and nurturing environment she strives to cultivate every day.
