Mrs. Ana Hernandez is a passionate and experienced Algebra 1 teacher with 23 years of experience in education. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from CSU Dominguez Hills. Mrs. Hernandez’s teaching philosophy is simple yet powerful: “Be the teacher that I would want for my own children.” This belief drives her dedication to creating a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment for her students.

In her classroom, Mrs. Hernandez engages students using Kagan strategies, whiteboards, and hands-on lessons to bring math to life. Her approach to student growth and development is centered on empowering students to take ownership of their learning by tracking what they’ve mastered and identifying areas where they need improvement.

She is particularly proud of her recognition as both a Math for America Master Teacher and a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT), reflecting her commitment to excellence in math education. Mrs. Hernandez incorporates technology and innovative practices, such as graphing calculators and Desmos, to enhance students’ understanding of complex mathematical concepts.

Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Hernandez contributes to the school community as the Testing Coordinator. She enjoys spending her free time with her family and has a deep love for baseball. Some of her proudest moments come when students, who once struggled with math, share their newfound love for the subject.

Looking ahead, Mrs. Hernandez is excited to implement Building Thinking Classrooms Techniques into her teaching, which will continue to promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills among her students.
